ugr_simboloThe University of Granada (UGR) is a distinguished academic institution with mention for excellence by the Ministry of Education of Spain, which invests in knowledge and innovation, standing out for pluridisciplinarity and quality o teaching.

The UGR covers teaching in an international context, involving different collaborators to promote scientific research. However, it also promotes academic cooperation with developing countries and representative actions in institutional networks, which has been strengthened and intensified through the granting of the CEI BioTic-UGR Campus of International Excellence.

As a pioneer in the implementation of the new European Higher Education Area (EHEA), the UGR represents a solid teaching model that stimulates quality, mobility, diversity and competitiveness principles. Its Ph.D. program in Economics and Business Science with Marketing and Consumption research line, is fully adapted and validated by the National Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation (ANECA).

In round numbers, the UGR attends 20,000 graduate students a year. From the international point of view, it receives more than 2,000 students every year from the Erasmus program, making it the first European destination within this mobility program . Furthermore, was chosen the best University of Spain by the international students .

Since this doctoral thesis proposal also needs the support of the disciplines and tools of computer engineering, we must mention that UGR is the first of Spain in the Computing of Sciences area and is ranked number 20 in the top 100 universities worldwide, according to the latest edition of the Taiwan Ranking. It also occupies the 43rd position of the 400 best universities in the world (and the 7th European) according to the 2019 edition of the Shanghai Jiao Tong Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) (Shanghai, 2019).

Taking into account other national rankings, the UGR is the first Spanish University in the open source free softwares development and the first national University not only in computer science, but also in documentation and statistics, two disciplines which supports the present Ph.D thesis project

As for the Ibero-American level, the 2019 ed. of the Shanghai Ranking Expanded indicates that the University of Granada occupies the 12th position in the ranking of Ibero-American Universities.
